Kumpulan Darul Ehsan Berhad (KDEB) entered into a strategic partnership with BioValley Technologies Co. Ltd. China, Shenzen Jiuzhou Investment Holding Co. Ltd. and Zhang Shaofeng and Univ-Herbs Manufacturers Bhd to collaborate on the research and development in biotechnology that will support biotechnology activities, produce commercially lucrative products as well as coordinate and promote the commercialisation of research findings that will help modernise the country's agriculture sector and ultimately further improve its economy.
The collaboration will see the exchange and semination of new techniques in the process of herbs into nutritional complements and as pure pharmaceutical products, as well as the transfer of technology in the production of the byproducts of the 'erigeron breviscapus' plant (which is known to improve blood circulation within the human body) for the Malaysian, ASEAN and Middle-East countries.
Dato' Haji Abd Karim Munisar, President of KDEB, said that KDEB will invest approximately RM3 billion to construct the manufacturing plant on KDEB's 50-acre land in Bestari Jaya, the first sustainable city in Malaysia, which is just next to Universiti Industri Selangor (UNISEL) new campus. This first sustainable city, a 29,000 acres fully integrated development dedicated to preserving and enhancing the existing environment while developing a sustainable holistic community living, will be at the forefront of education as KDEB works towards making it the education hub of Selangor.
The signing ceremony was witnessed by YB Dato' Seri Dr Mohamad Khir Toyo, the Dato' Menteri Besar of Selangor. He hopes that this will be the first step to future ventures that will see the combination of respective strengths and complementing competitive advantages for mutual benefit.
