Dato' Haji Abd Karim bin Munisar is the President of Kumpulan Darul Ehsan Berhad (KDEB), a Government Link Company (GLC) that is an investment arm of the Selangor State Government. He is also currently the Chairman of Kumpulan Perangsang Selangor Berhad (KPS), Chairman of Kumpulan Hartanah Selangor Berhad (KHSB) and the Chairman of Taliworks Corporation Berhad. He received the award at the function hosted by Enterprise Asia (a non-governmental organisation for entrepreneurship) at the Royale Chulan Hotel. YB Dato' Sri Ismail Sabri bin Yaakob, Minister of Domestic Trade, Co-Operatives & Consumerism Malaysia was present to give the award to the winners.
As a successful entrepreneur he had turned around KPS from a mere investment holding company in water-related businesses into a serious, active and major water player. He have also crusaded KPS' share price from the lowest of RM0.35sen in December 2006 equivalent to market capitalization of RM151 million to the highest share price of RM3.96 in January 2008 equivalent to market capitalizatio of RM1.4 billion. He changed the relatively unknown counter (KPS) into a respectable counter selected as an index-linked company by Bursa Malaysia. He set a new benchmark the performing GLC on the top 100 company-pick on Bursa Malaysia and Top 20 Gainers counter. He successfully gained recognition by the Government for KPS' expertise in water industry and having obtained appproval by the Cabinet to lead the Selangor State's water consolidation exercise making the Group the largest integrated water player in the region. He holds to his philosophy that "Water is a basic need for living beings, it is vital for this natural resource to be controlled by a government entity as only it is in the best position to balance between social obligations and Commercial considerations".
Whilst in sport, he is the Chairman of The Organizing Committee of the famous 'The Sultan of Selangor's Cup' for seven editions in a row. Before those, he was the man responsible for bringing the success to MPPJ.FC (the only club side) to winning the prestigious football cup in Malaysia, "The Malaysia Cup" in 2003.
